Canciones especiales: The Gates of Delirium
Pues tras un tiempo algo desaparecida por aquí, regreso... ¿y qué mejor forma de regresar que con Gates of Delirium de Yes?
Frecuentemente, mis amigos y/o conocidos con los que comparto ciertos gustos musicales me preguntan que cual es mi disco favorito de Yes.
La primera vez que me hicieron esta pregunta reflexioné durante varios segundos la respuesta, hasta que me decidí: "no es fácil, pero me quedo con Relayer"
La gente se extraña de mi respuesta, y se pregunta porque no prefiero Close to the Edge, Fragile, Tales from... que vale, todos me gustan e impresionan, pero nunca han llegado a fascinarme tanto como me fascinó la primera escucha de The Gates of Delirium, el largo tema que abre el disco Relayer.
Siempre que una canción logra centrar toda mi atención y me deja petrificada desde la primera escucha, se convierte en una canción importante para mi... y con el tiempo, y las miles de escuchas que siguen a esa primera escucha, acaba por convertirse en una "canción especial" para mi.
Los casi 22 minutos que dura esta fantástica canción, se hacen tan tan cortos, que tengo que escuchar este tema con mucho tiempo, porque siempre que lo escucho NECESITO repetir.
Yo suelo dividir a esta canción en dos partes:
La parte del principio, que poco a poco se va alocando hasta convertirse en un verdadero, pero apasionante caos musical, lleno de una "paranoia elegante" que pone los pelos de punta. Como se lucen estos señores con este tema.
Pero, aproximadamente en el minuto 14 y medio, la cosa desciende, y se llega a una parte que transmite una paz alucinante. Es la cura a la locura de los primeros minutos.
En el minuto 17, Jon Anderson nos deleita con su preciosa voz, y nos lleva a un rincón armonioso, donde su voz es el instrumento más hermoso.
No es cuestión de describir todo lo que me hace sentir, porque la entrada se podría hacer eterna... para mi este es un tema mágico.
Asi que dejo que saqueis vuestras propias conclusiones sobre el mismo, y os invito a soñar y a pasar un rato muy muy agradable.

Creo que estaremos de acuerdo en pensar que sin duda es uno de los mejores trabajos de la historia,desde luego que tras Ommadawn,por supuesto..
